Fang Fang Shi

Dr. FangFang Shi Inouye received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano Performance from the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music, where she studied under the renowned pianist Mr. Norman Krieger.

An accomplished performer, Dr. Shi has appeared both nationally and internationally, with her live performances broadcast on KUSC Radio. She has received numerous honors and awards, including:

As the first-place winner of the USC Thornton Concerto Competition, Dr. Shi performed as a soloist with the USC Thornton Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Carl St. Clair. She made her Carnegie Hall debut at Weill Recital Hall in 2015.

Dr. Shi was inducted into Pi Kappa Lambda, the National Music Honor Society, in recognition of her outstanding academic achievements. As a music educator and scholar, she published her research paper “Realizing Goals in Memorization” through the International Society for Music Education (ISME) and was invited to present her findings at ISME’s international conference in Beijing, China.

A dedicated teacher and leader, Dr. Shi has been an active member of the Music Teachers’ Association of California (MTAC) since 1992, where she has served as President and First Vice President of the Lakewood–Cerritos Branch. She is frequently invited to adjudicate at piano competitions and festivals, including:

Her students have consistently placed in top competitions, including the SYMF Young Artist Category, MTAC State Concerto and Solo Competitions, and the Fullerton Ensemble Festival.

Dr. Shi has held teaching positions at Cerritos College, Irvine Valley College, and California State University, Dominguez Hills. She is currently an adjunct faculty member at Long Beach City College, where she continues to inspire through both her teaching and performing.
