Born in the United States to a Taiwanese family, Frederick Chiu is currently a senior at Walnut High School, California. Under the guidance of his father at age five, Frederick began his piano education and has since developed great enthusiasm in music learning. As a student of Ms. Jenny Shin, he has successfully passed the Music Teacher Association of California (MTAC) Certificate of Merit Advanced Level with honors and has been selected to participate in the Panel Finals in 2021. Frederick also participated in various competitions and festivals. His most recent achievements include being awarded as a Platinum Medalist in both North American Virtuoso International Music Competition and Global International Music Competition. He was also chosen as a finalist in the 4th Weatherford College International Piano Competition and a semifinalist in the 2022 Music Center Spotlight Program. Besides, Frederick won first prize in Charleston International Piano Competition, Gold Prize in Seattle International Competition - Virtuoso Artists Festival, First Prize and Exceptional Young Talent Special Prize in the 2020 International Music Competition Bonn "Grand Prize Virtuoso", Germany.  Frederick had the honor to perform with APU Festival Orchestra conducted by Dr. Christopher Russell as a first prize winner in the 2018 MTAC Dozen Charitable Trust Fund Concerto Competition. He also performed at Weill Recital Hall, Carnegie Hall as a first prize winner of the 2017 Golden Classical Music Awards International Competition.

Besides piano, Frederick has developed an interest in Forensic Sciences and Pathology. Following this, he attended a Forensic Pathology class taught by Dr. Henry Lee (Renown Forensic Scientist) during the summer of 2021. He will continue to further this interest and pursue both Science and Music majors in college.
