Yunjia Guan

Mrs. Yunjia Guan is an active piano performer and educator. She has performed as a concert pianist in Italy, China, and the United States, and has collaborated with singers and instrumentalists. She is also an experienced music teacher and a sought-after instructor for piano exams. Guan is a member of the National Piano Society of China and Director of Panjin Piano Association. Her primary teacher includes the renowned pianist, Steinway Artist, Piano Professor at Central Conservatory of Music in China, Mr. Danwen Wei.

 

 

 

Since the beginning of the musical career, Mrs. Yunjia Guan has devoted herself to the spread and universalization of classical music and the development of music education in the Chinese community. She has taught at a number of public and private schools in Liaoning province, designed music curriculums for young and adult students, trained music teachers at private music centers, and organized public educational Events. While helping her students with their playing techniques and general musical knowledge, she also values and aims to cultivate their spiritual growth as a person and broader musical interests. In 2014, she founded the G-Music Studio, through which she regularly organized student recitals and classes for music history, theory, music appreciation, ear-training, sight-reading, and small chamber ensembles with the purpose to improve the students’ overall understanding, performance, and appreciation of music.

 

 

 

Mrs. Guan is particularly experienced in preparing students for musical exams such as the ABRSM and CM piano exam. Almost all of her students not only passed the exams but also received praises from the judges. In 2015, Guan acquired her judging certificate from the Chinese National Artist Academy, which qualifies her for any piano competitions and exams up to the province level. Many of her students have achieved excellent results in their competitions, including the KAWAI Asia Piano Competition, the Zhongsin International Music Competition in Singapore, the International Open Music Competition of Australia, the Russia International Open Music Competition, and etc. To recognize her outstanding teaching, all of the above-mentioned competition have awarded her the title of “Excellent Instructor”.

 

 

 

Mrs. Guan has been an active concert pianist. Some highlights of her performances include her solo and concerto performances at Palazzo dei Priori, Perugia Italy, in 2017, where she performed Prokofiev’s Piano Sonata No.1 and Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 2 under the baton of Mr. Uri Segal. Moreover, she has been invited to perform at the China Conservatory of Music “Spring of the Wetland” Piano Recital, National Piano Society of China Masterclass Recital, Panjin Musicians’ Association “Spring Festival” Gala Concert, and the 1st Panjin Piano Festival’s Opening and Gala Concert. While classical music makes up the majority of her performing repertoire, she is interested in music of various styles and origins. In 2019, she toured with pianist Dr. Yuan Feng and their Jazz Piano Duo in Guangzhou and other 5 cities in China, where the performances were all well received.

In addition to teaching and performing, Mrs. Guan has written several articles for piano works by J.S. Bach, Edvard Grieg, Francois Poulenc, and Alexander Scriabin as well as general piano techniques and practice strategies. A few of these articles are published on academic journals in China such as Northern Music and Art, Science, and Technology.
