• Concert Pianist and Educator
• Founder of iPhil Piano Academy
• Master of Music in Piano Performance and Piano Pedagogy
Certified Teacher of MTAC (Music Teachers’ Association of California)
Born into a family of music educators, Angela began her piano journey at the age of three. With over 30 years of playing experience and a distinguished 15-year teaching career, she is widely recognized for her exceptional academic background and rigorous pedagogical system. Angela has frequently been invited to serve as a judge for prestigious international piano competitions, and her students have consistently achieved top honors on the global stage. She is also an expert in the examination policies of major boards, including CM, ABRSM, and RCM.
【Masterful Heritage & Academic Background】
Angela studied under the renowned pianist Zhang Qiongna and Professor Tang Zhe of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. During her advanced studies in the United States, she was mentored by Professor Valery Kuleshov—a disciple of the legendary master Vladimir Horowitz—where she systematically mastered the essence of the Russian piano method. Simultaneously, she studied the most advanced piano pedagogy under Professor Chindarat Charoenwongse-Shaw. Due to her outstanding performance, she was appointed as a Teaching Assistant at the School of Music, where she was responsible for undergraduate instruction and served as an accompanist for numerous large-scale performances.
【Research & Pedagogical Excellence】
As a research-driven educator, Angela has not only published multiple academic papers but also innovatively proposed a pedagogical theory that "integrates the essence of Chinese Tai Chi into piano performance." While she is proficient in various instruments such as the Erhu, the piano remains her lifelong passion. This cross-cultural musical perspective grants her a unique dimension in teaching. Angela consistently upholds the philosophy of "teaching one how to fish," aiming to cultivate students' comprehensive artistic literacy and independent thinking skills. She excels at stimulating students' subjective initiative, helping them ultimately become "their own best teachers."
