Praised by the New York Concert Review as “undoubtedly far from finished in terms of potential,” Chinese-born pianist Chen Liang has appeared in major concert venues across the United States, Europe, and Asia, including Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City, Benaroya Hall in Seattle, Chengdu City Concert Hall in China, the Pontifical Institute Hall in Rome, and the Vienna Hall of the Mozarteum Foundation in Salzburg. He has also performed as soloist with the Chongqing Philharmonic in China, the Greece Symphony Orchestra in New York, and the Lynn Philharmonia in Florida, and is a contracted artist with the Chengdu City Concert Hall.

A winner of multiple international competitions, Chen has received first prizes at the Clara Schumann International Piano Competition, Manhattan International Music Competition, Lira International Piano Competition, Big Arts Classical Music Scholarship Competition, and Lynn Concerto Competition. He has also earned top prizes at the “ArsClassica” International Piano Competition (Italy), PianoTexas Festival Concerto Competition, and Chautauqua Music Festival Piano Competition.

Currently based in Seattle, Chen serves as Vice President of the South King County Music Teachers’ Association and the Artistic Board of the Seattle International Piano Competition. He is also on the faculty of piano at the Chopin Academy of Music. Before moving to Seattle, Chen taught at the Eastman Community Music School and the State University of New York at

Geneseo. In 2018, he co-founded the “Beyond Clouds” Summer Piano Festival in Chengdu, China, where he continues to serve as Artistic Director.

A dedicated educator, Chen has given masterclasses locally, nationally, and internationally, including at the Washington State Music Teachers Association (Bellingham Chapter), Interlochen Arts Academy, Lynn University, and the Sichuan Conservatory of Music in China. He has also

served as a judge, most recently for the Seattle International Piano Competition (Virtuosic Festival), the WSMTA Snohomish Chapter Sonata Festival, the 33rd United States Open Music Competitions in Oakland, California, and the 2026 Crescendo International Music Competition

Chen holds his Bachelor of Music degree from the Lynn University Conservatory of Music with Dr. Roberta Rust, and his Master’s and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the Eastman School of Music, where he studied with Ms. Natalya Antonova.
